During the camp, AFJROTC cadets engage in a series of challenging activities and exercises that test their endurance, strength, and mental resilience. These activities may include obstacle courses, team-building exercises, navigation challenges, rope courses, orienteering, marksmanship training, and other military-inspired drills.
Participants are often divided into teams, fostering a competitive yet cooperative atmosphere that encourages camaraderie and mutual support. Instructors, often including active or retired military personnel, lead the training, providing guidance and mentorship throughout the program.
In Leadership Camp, Cadets are directly trained by Colonel Farr. Only those selected can participate, and are taught on how to Lead, Command Respect and have Communication. Cadets at this camp often participate in fun, interactive training excerices.
This camp provides hands-on instruction and intensive practice sessions to improve their precision, teamwork, and overall performance.
During the camp, cadets learn various aspects of flag etiquette, proper handling, and folding of flags, marching techniques, and flag presentation protocols. They also receive instruction on uniform maintenance and drill maneuvers to ensure a polished and professional appearance during ceremonies.
Additionally, color guard camp fosters leadership and discipline by encouraging cadets to take on specific roles within the team and providing them with opportunities to lead their peers during practice sessions and mock ceremonies.
The camp often includes competitive elements where cadets from different schools or units showcase their skills in a friendly and challenging environment. This allows cadets to gain valuable experience and build camaraderie with other AFJROTC members from various backgrounds.
