INSTRUCTORS

Lieutenant Colonel Farr is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Georgia. Colonel Farr was born February 13, 1964 in Newnan, Georgia.   He graduated from Newnan High School in 1982 and received a Master’s degree in Theological Studies (with an emphasis in Christian Leadership) from Liberty University in 2010; an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Leadership & Management, from the University of Maryland in 2007; a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1988; a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1987; an Associate degree in Avionic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1986; and another Associate Degree in Personnel Administration from the Community College of the Air Force in 1992.  His professional military education includes diplomas from Air Command and Staff College, Squadron Officer School, and the Air Force Health Services Administration Course. Colonel Farr enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1982.  He completed basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and was assigned to Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, for technical training as an Avionic Communications System Technician.  He graduated from technical school and was assigned to the 3380th Avionic Maintenance Squadron at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi shortly after.  In March 1989, he transferred from active duty into the Georgia Air National Guard's 202nd Engineering Installation Squadron, Macon, Georgia.  In May,1990 he entered the Air Force Reserve, was an honor graduate from the Air Force Reserve Recruiter Course, and was selected for an assignment as an Air Force Reserve Recruiter at the 459th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.  In 1992, he was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant and selected to serve as a Health Professions Recruiter in Alexandria, Virginia.  Later, he accepted a position as a trainer for Air Force Reserve Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Recruiting Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Colonel Farr received his commission as a Medical Service Corps officer in June 1994.  He served as the Regional Chief for the Air Force Reserve Recruiting Service, Region North, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, until April 1998.  Then he assumed his first command position as Commander, 22nd Air Force Reserve Recruiting Flight, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia, where he led a 134-person organization spanning nineteen states, tasked to staff, classify and place 4000 people into the Air Force Reserve.  His second command position was as the Commander, Officer Accessions Reserve Recruiting Flight where his team responsibilities spanned worldwide operations (United States, Europe, Korea and Japan) tasked to annually staff, classify and place medical and career professionals into the Air Force Reserve. Colonel Farr accepted an assignment to the Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service headquarters at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, in April 2005, where he served as director for each of its three divisions: As Director, Operations, & Training Division, his responsibility involved global efforts to staff, classify and place over 9,000 personnel annually into the Air Force Reserve.  Additionally, his team provided operational guidance, support, training & education to over 400 recruiters worldwide.  As Director, Plans, Programs, & Resources Division, his responsibility included budget and contracting services.  As Director, Advertising & Information Systems Division, his responsibility included the development and implementation of a national strategic advertising campaign. Colonel Farr’s career culminated with a squadron commander position at the Air Force Reserve Eastern Recruiting Squadron, Atlanta, Georgia, in August 2009.  As commander, he led the Air Force Reserve’s largest recruiting squadron composed of over 160 personnel.  His area of responsibility encompassed twenty-one states and overseas—Germany, Italy & England.  His team directly supported nineteen wings to meet Air Force Reserve Command manning requirements.  Their squadron played a key role in maintaining a force of 70,000 reservists stationed and serving worldwide. Colonel Farr’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and a Humanitarian Service Medal. Colonel Farr retired from active duty after thirty years of service in April 2012.  He is married to the former Tracey Elaine Stribling of Nashville, Tennessee.  He and Tracey spend as much time as possible horseback riding or carriage driving near the family farm in Moreland, Georgia.  Tracey is now a retired Deputy Sheriff. 

I am Master Sergeant Ryan McLain; I retired from the Air Force after 22 years and 6 months on 30 Aug 2016. I served the Air Force as a Security Forces member (Military Police), a Recruiter, and my last job was the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of Combat Arms small arms training and firing.  

Throughout my career, I have been around the world. I began my career at Keesler AFB from 1994 to 1998. From 1998-2001, I took up residence in Holloman AFB NM. From 2001-2004, RAF Lakenheath UK was home. In 2004, I left for Andersen AFB Guam, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In 2006 sadly I returned to the U.S. and landed at Seymour Johnson AFB NC, and from 2010-2014, I volunteered to move to the Huntsville Al Recruiting Office 332

Recruiting Squadron. My last duty station was Langley AFB VA. I began my civilian life in Greensboro, North Carolina where I first worked at Oak Ridge Military Academy as a Training and Counseling (TAC) NCO then I work as an AF JROTC Instructor at Dudley

High School for four school years. In 2020, I was offered my current position at Carrollton High School. During my 22-year career, I went on numerous deployments to the Middle East and Europe including Operation Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the Iraqi Campaign. Alongside me for 27 years is my lovely wife and we have two beautiful children; of which the eldest is my daughter.  My hobbies include spending time with my family, running, and being outdoors, gardening, hiking, fishing, camping, shooting, and hunting. As an instructor, I will say Carrollton High School is a joyful and rewarding

experience. The cadets who believe in the program make me proud to be the

Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) at Carrollton High School!
